Our CEO Narcís Puigdemont and the General Manager of an important partner of ours, Hoffmann Group Iberia, were recently featured in an article that gained attention from various news outlets in Spain, including our local newspaper, Diari de Girona. It was a long piece so we spliced it into three bite-sized chunks before adding a few notes and comments here.

In the first instalment, we focused on how we can highlight operational efficiencies in manufacturing in terms of how they can make careers in the sector more attractive to the young talent that might look for opportunities elsewhere. In the second extract, we zeroed in on the buzz around AI and again discussed the topic in terms of how it may have an impact on jobs in manufacturing.

In this final piece, let’s pick up on a quote from Hoffman’s Iberia GM Alejandro Mengual in the original article.

Asked about Hoffmann Group’s commitment to sustainability, Alejandro remarked that his firm implements “constant improvements that help reduce CO2 consumption and lessen overall environmental impact” and Narcís mentioned his satisfaction with Hoffmann’s efforts in this area.

No surprise, really. More and more Tecma customers are articulating their own increasingly stringent green procurement requirements.

For those for whom a given component can feasibly be made either out of aluminium or out of some other materials, we are keen to point out that when compared to most alternatives, aluminium is more easily recycled. We like to emphasise the fact that in addition to recycled aluminium obviously lessening the need to extract more raw materials (bauxite, in the case of aluminium), the aluminium recycling process consumes far less energy than the production of new material from scratch. We make sure to tell clients that around 70% of the components we make use recycled rather than virgin aluminium and that we’re working to keep driving this percentage ever upwards.

In addition to this, we make sure that our customers know that our production facility near Girona runs on 100% renewable energy. Beyond our own desire to maintain the beauty and liveability of the wonderful region that we call home, we know that customer need to demonstrate to their customers, to their investors and to their countries’ and sectors’ regulators that they are working with the greenest possible partners all along their supply chains. They can trust Tecma with these important concerns!
